Makondo Pets Breeder Code of Ethics

At Makondo Pets, we believe every puppy deserves to be raised with care, respect, proper attention, and love. Our Breeder Partner Program is created for responsible breeders who are already committed to the health and well-being of their dogs, puppies, and puppy families.

By applying to join the Makondo Pets Breeder Partner Program, I confirm that the following statements are true:

Animal welfare comes first
My breeding program provides dogs and puppies with a safe, clean, comfortable, and loving environment.
No puppy mill practices
I do not operate as a puppy mill, support puppy mill practices, or source puppies from puppy mills, brokers, wholesalers, auctions, pet shops, or any substandard breeding operation.
Proper care for every puppy
Every puppy in my care receives proper daily attention, age-appropriate exercise, socialization, nutrition, and care.
Veterinary care and health records
My dogs and puppies receive appropriate veterinary care when needed. I provide puppy families with health records, including vaccination, deworming, parasite control, diet, and care information when applicable.
Responsible breeding decisions
My breeding decisions are made carefully, considering the health, temperament, maturity, and overall well-being of the dogs involved.
Breed knowledge and health awareness
I understand common inherited health concerns in my breed and follow appropriate health screening practices when applicable.
Clean and safe facilities
I maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe home, kennel, or property environment for all dogs and puppies in my care.
Compliance with laws and regulations
My breeding program complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to breeding, animal care, licensing, and recordkeeping.
Honest communication with puppy families
I communicate honestly with puppy families and provide clear information about each puppy’s health, background, care needs, and registration status when applicable.
Responsible placement of puppies
I do not sell, donate, transfer, or supply puppies to brokers, wholesalers, pet shops, raffles, auctions, or any person or organization intending to resell or give away puppies irresponsibly.
Support after puppies go home
I make reasonable efforts to support puppy families after pickup or delivery, including basic guidance on nutrition, care, and the puppy’s transition into its new home.
Responsible use of Makondo Pets materials
Once approved as a Makondo Breeder Partner, I agree to represent Makondo Pets honestly and responsibly. I will not make false claims, medical claims, or guaranteed-result claims about Makondo Pets products.
Program integrity
I understand that the Makondo Pets Breeder Partner Program is intended for responsible breeders who share Makondo’s commitment to ethical breeding, animal welfare, and healthy puppy-family relationships.

Makondo Pets reserves the right to review, suspend, or cancel any Breeder Partner account at any time, without prior notice, if we believe the breeder has violated this Code of Ethics, misrepresented their breeding practices, engaged in puppy mill activity, made false claims, or acted in a way that does not align with the values of Makondo Pets.
