The dogs seem to enjoy these treats and so far no extra gas or any adverse side effect. They are a little pricey especially at the rate we give these to our bigger dog, but he seems to be comfortable after eating now.
One of our older dogs struggles constantly with a sensitive stomach. We were dealing with frequent loose stools, excessive gas, and sometimes even noticeable noises coming from her stomach. Within about a week and a half, we saw a noticeable difference. Her stools are healthier, and the embarrassing (and smelly!) gas issues are almost completely gone. I give it all my dogs now and they line up for their daily dose.
We're trying these out for the first time by giving them to our LGDs and a stray Anatolian we're trying to save. None of the dogs have turned their noses up and have scarffed down what was offered. That's a testimony to the taste.
We can't speak to the efficacy other than anecdotal evidence. None of the dogs have suffered gastrointestinal problems that we can tell. None of the dogs have refused further treatments. We haven't observed adverse reactions.
This item arrives in a resealable plastic tub and is sealed inside for freshness. The probiotics themselves are round treats that have a cooked chicken smell to them with slight vitamin overtones. Both my dogs ate them, although my picky eater hesitated slightly (had to take it, drop it, sniff it thoroughly, then gobble it down). I've found that keeping my dogs on probiotics has cut down on the itchy-scratchies they tend to get (where they scratch and chew on themselves for no apparent reason, no fleas, no rash, nothing!), and has cut way back on the paint-peeling flatulence my older dog was prone to. I do think these would probably be more cost-effective for smaller breeds, as one treat is only effective for dogs up to 10 lbs., anything over that and the amount of treats goes up exponentially.
The dogs ate these no problem and liked the taste. It's tough to tell from using less than one jar how effective they are, but I have to believe the ingredients will do their thing. I like that they're made in the US, but I question why the vet who formulated this stuff is remaining somewhat anonymous. I expect that if they use a doctor to develop the formula, we'd see their full name.
